JUSTJUNK Gives Back to the Niagara Falls Big Brothers and Big Sisters!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is a mentoring program that helps match children in need of a friend with positive role models. For 100 years Big Brothers Big Sisters has role models that teach the youths of today the importance if giving back, staying in school, teaching respect for themselves, family, friends and peers!

Big Brothers Big Sisters has a wide range of mentoring programs that meet the needs of our volunteers, children and families! Take a look at some of the mentoring Big Brothers Big Sisters provides below:

Big Brothers and Big Sisters Mentoring: provides boys, girls and young men and women with a role model and friend to talk to and share different experiences with! This can be done by doing a couple scheduled outings a month of several hours each, for at least a year.

In-School Mentoring: Similar to the above mentioned, the only difference is this takes place in a school setting over the course of a year for an hour each week! Mentors can meet with the mentee and play games, do crafts or just hang out!

Go Girls! Mentoring: is a mentoring program for girls aged 12-14 and focuses on healthy eating, physical activity and self esteem. This is typically 7 sessions over a 7-10 week period.

Game On! Mentoring: is mentoring similar to that of Go Girls! offering boys a chance to learn about similar things such as healthy eating, physical activity and other topics as well.

Dream Catcher Mentoring: is an e-mentoring program that empowers students to realize the rewards of staying in school! Students can connect with Canadian mentors who work in their fields!

This just covers a bit of what Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada does! Because of the great work Big Brothers Big Sisters does, JUST JUNK® CEO Mike Thorne donated a corporate suite with 18 seats at a recent Buffalo Sabers hockey game. Mike said that he wanted "to give the opportunity to those who might not get to experience games and hoped that it would put a smile on the children's faces".
